Elizabeth is originally from Cleveland, OH but moved to Charleston from San Antonio, TX in 2012. She had just finished her master’s degree in counseling and guidance and was ready to experience a new city. Prior to working with readySC, Elizabeth worked as one of the GEAR UP counselors for Charleston County School District and then as a Program Manager for the state GEAR UP grant administered by The Commission on Higher Education. She lives on James Island with her dog, two children and partner Matt. Elizabeth recently began the journey of pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Extrovert, passionate, empathetic.
Please tell us about your job:
I have the honor of working as an Area Director for readySC. I service the new and expanding companies in Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Williamsburg, Horry and Georgetown counties to help with recruiting and training their new workforce.
What is something that you love about your job?
The people! The job is great, truly I am blessed but the people make it all worth it. I am very lucky to have such a great team and amazing co-workers.
What drew you to working for readySC?
I was really drawn to readySC during the interview process. It was great to see that the interviewees seemed to truly enjoy their job as well as one another. I asked questions about training and professional development opportunities for employees and I really liked what I heard. I believe it is important for a company to invest and empower their people and encourage growth, readySC does just that.
